jacobh2 782415122d Separate user intent from planner output via day assertions
The calendar mixed two kinds of truth in one table. `planned_leave_day` was
simultaneously the allocator's output cache, the user's override store
(`is_pinned`, plus ad-hoc rows with no `wish_id`), and the resource ledger that
analytics and the age-4 maths read. The planner therefore had to ask "am I
allowed to touch this row?" on every sync, and got it wrong at the edges.

Every user assertion is now one `day_assertion` row — a concrete `day_type`
replaces a pinned day, a row with no `wish_id` replaces an ad-hoc day, and
`day_type='none'` replaces `planned_day_exclusion`. `planned_leave_day` becomes
purely derived with a single writer, and `PlanningService.pinned_keys()` is the
single answer to "is this day pinned", used by the allocator's loader, by
`sync_plan` and by the read router alike.

On top of that, every calendar band is now a real event: an ad-hoc band opens
the same full editor as a wish-backed one and saving it promotes it to a
`LeaveWish`, so it can be named, repeated yearly, assigned to either or both
parents, and handed to the planner. "Planering" is a `moveable` toggle plus a
from/to month bound plus a separate lock/unlock action on the days themselves,
replacing a three-rung ladder whose "planner decides" rung set a search window
equal to the drawn dates and so could never move anything.

Bugs found and fixed along the way:

- The plan erased its own history. Fixed windows clip to today, so an elapsed
auto-placed day fell into `stale_keys` and was deleted on the next sync —
and a background sync runs on every workspace load. Past rows are now frozen
  and counted as spent.
- Migration 010's downgrade silently destroyed every pinned day and exclusion
(`is_pinned` returned as DEFAULT 0, the exclusion table came back empty,
exit 0, no warning). It now reconstructs both from `day_assertion`, and 009
itemises what it cannot recover before dropping the table.
- Deleting a period left its assertions behind, locking those dates forever
with no UI path to clear them. Wish deletion now clears them by `wish_id`.
- `DayAssertionService` and `LeaveWishService` committed multi-statement writes
without a transaction; a crash mid-write diverged the tables or half-deleted
a series. Both now run in a unit of work.
- A sibling year's shortfall was never surfaced: the toast only inspected the
edited occurrence's outcome, so a fully unfunded later year rendered as an
  empty band with no warning.
- A flexible window whose bound had entirely elapsed was dropped from the
proposal with no outcome at all. It now reports as `unplaced`.
- Unlocking a period deleted its days instead of returning them to the planner.
- The e2e global setup posted to a route deleted in this change, which would
have failed the whole suite before its first test.

Gates: backend 938 tests / 91% coverage, frontend 1351 / 97.4 | 92.2 | 94.37 |
97.4. Migrations 009 and 010 audited against a hand-built realistic database:
the upgrade reconciles exactly and a constraint violation fails safe, leaving
the schema at 008.

Not complete. Step 4's toggle, month picker and lock/unlock action are verified
by browser walk and unit tests, but the partial-lock readout was not exercised.
`ideas.md` §7 adds a full plan for the vacation-forfeiture defect (the planner
detects expiring days and then does nothing about them) — not implemented here.
Remaining smaller items are listed in the session's restructure notes.

jacobh2 74ddfcd440 Name the parent and year in vacation-expiry warnings
Several vacation_expiring warnings rendered with an identical title and a
body without the parent, so two warnings for the same year read as
duplicates. The backend already sends parent_personal_data_uuid; the
strings just never used it.

jacobh2 61e5487078 Free days, vacation forfeiture, and global auto-replanning
Free days (Sat/Sun/red days, subject to DayOverride) can never be
vacation, and can only be parental leave when the workspace opts in via
take_pl_on_red_days. The allocator already honoured this; the hand-pin
path bypassed it entirely.

- PlanningService gains optional workspace_repo/day_override_repo deps
and _reject_illegal_free_day, enforced in add_planned_day and update.
Reuses allocation_service.is_free_day rather than re-deriving it, and
no-ops when the deps are unset so existing callers are unaffected.
- update_planned_day had no ValidationError handler at all, so a
validation failure there 500'd instead of 422'ing. Fixed.
- Calendar filters the pin write loop by the day's isFree; the modal
explains free days stay off, and that pinning opts a day out of
  automatic re-planning.

Vacation days at risk of forfeiture were computed and sent over the
wire but never rendered: an at-risk column with the age-out/over-cap
split, and a dashboard key figure.

PlanProposal.warnings was likewise parsed but rendered nowhere, for all
three kinds. Adds PlanWarningCard in a Risks section above the tips,
with parent names resolved and dates formatted.

POST /api/plan/sync now fires from the workspace layer on every
plan-input change rather than only from Calendar, so a Settings edit or
a pinned-day save re-plans day types instead of merely refetching.
Overlapping bumps coalesce into one trailing run; a rejection cannot
wedge the in-flight guard. eviction_preview was silently dropped by the
frontend despite always being on the wire, and is now surfaced through
context.

Verified: backend 890 passed (91.49% coverage), frontend 1297 passed,
ruff/eslint/tsc clean. Browser-checked in Swedish and English.

jacobh2 0e9b20ec37 Track preschool planning days, partner invites and real vacation forfeiture
Three strands of work that grew together across the same settings screen and
API client, so they land as one change.

Per-year preschool planning days ("studiedagar"): new table, repository
(SQLite + Postgres), service, router and migration 007, plus the hooks and
Settings UI to plan and record them per child and year. Allocation now
reserves the recorded figure for a year where one exists and only falls back
to the child-level estimate otherwise, marking that fallback as assumed.

Partner invitations: workspaces issue and list invitations, registration
accepts an invite token to join the inviter's workspace instead of creating a
personal one, and a /join/:token page plus the settings invite panel drive it.

Vacation forfeiture: tips and the dashboard now distinguish days a parent
genuinely loses from days that merely age, so the warning stops firing on
balances that were never at risk.

jacobh2 d5f33e8c7f Tell parents how to save the days expiring at age 4
The dashboard stated the loss and stopped there. With Jacob at 48/48 savable
and 24 days over the cap, and Amelie at 3/48 with 45 days of headroom, those
24 days are not lost at all — transferring them before the 4th birthday saves
every one. The app never said so.

`_rule_age4_pooling_loss` already computed exactly that advice, bounded by the
FK-reported `transferable_days_left`, in finished Swedish and English. It never
ran: `age4_pooling_tip_min_child_age_years` held it back until the child turned
2. The calendar IS the plan, so gate on the plan instead — the noise case is a
newborn with nothing planned, not a young child whose parents have planned in
detail. `age4_pooling_tip_min_planned_days` (20) replaces the age gate.

Both variants drop to `info`. A projection four years out should not read as a
verdict on the user's planning; the hero carries the alarm, this card carries
the advice. The copy now leads with "plans change, this is only a projection"
and closes by pointing at keeping balances up to date, since parents will come
back and record what they actually took.

- Suppress `preserve_for_age_4` whenever `age4_pooling_loss` fires for the same
child. The pooling tip states the same loss plus the remedy and the correct
per-parent cap, so emitting both gave two contradictory "you're losing N
  days" figures.
- `preserve_for_age_4` now sends `parent_cap` and its copy interpolates it. It
claimed "only 96 days can be saved" — false for a two-parent family, where
the cap is 48 each, as the Age4Bars card two rows below already showed.
- The hero grows a "How to save them" line derived from the tip itself, so the
two can never disagree on the number. Dismissing the tip retires both.
- "Försäkringskassan" in that line links to FK's BankID login carrying a `goto`
to Min föräldrapenning — the e-service showing "Dagar ni kan föra över" —
so the transfer is one click away. `translate()` returns a plain string and
word order differs between locales, so the anchor's position travels inside
the template as `{fk}` and the rendered string is split around it.

Verified in the browser: hero, link target, tip severity and the absence of
`preserve_for_age_4`, in both languages and at 390px. Note the demo seed cannot
reach this shape — it gives the surplus parent no FK snapshot at all.

jacobh2 97a7200c1a Parse transferable days from FK instead of deriving them
The scraper never read "överlåtbara dagar" from Försäkringskassan. It only
visited ansok-och-planera-foraldrapenning#/valjdagar and derived the
reserved/transferable split in build_snapshot, assuming transferable days
are spent before reserved ones. On real data that gave 49 for the user and
0 for the partner where FK states 129 and 71.

The assumption cannot be repaired: reserved-first, transferable-first,
proportional and cap-based models were all checked against real figures and
none reproduces FK's accounting (reserved-first fits the partner but is 10
days off for the user). FK publishes the real numbers per parent per tier on
the min-foraldrapenning page, which the scraper had never visited.

- Scrape the "Dagar ni kan föra över" panel after the valjdagar extraction,
summing sjukpenningnivå + lägstanivå per parent. The totals are not
literals on the page. Parse only direct-child <p> elements: the first
group embeds a tooltip with decoy "45 dagar"/"90 dagar" text.
- build_snapshot accepts the reported value and derives reserved days from
it; the old arithmetic remains only as a fallback. An implausible FK value
degrades to that fallback rather than failing the fetch.
- Record provenance in transferable_days_reported (migration 006) and badge
derived values as estimates in the dashboard breakdown. Drop the footnote's
claim that at most 150 days are transferable — real data contradicts it as
  a per-family figure.
- Select the child's section by name when FK lists several; never guess.

Verified against a live BankID scrape: scraped 240/101/139 with 129
transferable, deduced partner 240/169/71 with 71, both flagged as reported.

Incidental fixes found along the way:

- The fetch router never forwarded the partner's transferable figure to
persist_partner_deduction, so the partner's stored snapshot would have kept
the flawed split even once the parse landed.
- 'deduced' snapshots were labelled "Manually entered" by a two-way ternary
over a three-value union. Replaced with a compiler-checked exhaustive map.
- Alembic resolved its database from alembic.ini alone, ignoring
APP_SQLITE_PATH, so migrations silently targeted the developer's real
database even when pointed elsewhere. env.py now resolves it, preferring
-x sqlalchemy.url, then a real APP_SQLITE_PATH, then the ini value.
- backend/captures/ was not ignored: the root pattern was anchored as
/captures/ despite a comment saying scraper dumps must never be tracked.
- CLAUDE.md quoted test counts and coverage percentages that had gone stale,
which made a correct verification report look suspect. Gate thresholds kept.

the right word from the number they interpolate, in both languages.

jacobh2 b3fe2ac645 Group settings into four panels and give balances one home
Settings becomes Barn & familj, Saldon, Kalender & språk and
Undantag & röda dagar, each saving on its own. A BalanceFlow
component owns fetching from Försäkringskassan and manual entry for
every parent, used by the Saldon panel and by the onboarding wizard,
which now runs without the app chrome. The red-days list and the
day-override form merge into one exceptions view, the vacation table
becomes wrapping rows that fit a phone, and the BankID modal speaks
translated status lines instead of emoji.

jacobh2 80b4f1cb52 Make the overview answer the year-by-year question
The dashboard now leads with a typographic headline, three key
figures, per-parent age-4 bars and one row per year until the fourth
birthday. Each year row shows the timeline bands beside each parent's
parental-leave days left at year end and vacation days left, carried
over or expiring, and opens into a per-parent table with that year's
wish outcomes. Tips become a plain list and absorb the planner's
surplus advice; "Detaljer" keeps the metrics and a balance snapshot
for every parent. The separate plan-proposal fold and the
type-count table are gone.

jacobh2 dbef997da4 Redraw the calendar as an almanac: gridless cells, typed bands
Day cells lose their borders and fills; red days, klämdagar and
Saturdays are told apart by the numeral's ink with a 12px R/K mark,
today is a filled circle, overrides and exclusions mark the numeral.
Bands carry their funding type by fill, ink and hatching and their
owner by a left cap. The preset rail becomes a chip row, the legend a
help popover, the period popover's three delete buttons fold behind
one "Ta bort…", and solo users pick a type directly in the day modal.

jacobh2 8cfb9c82c6 Let a day removed from a period stay removed
Taking one day out of a period the planner placed did nothing that
lasted: the period still asked for a full week, so the next sync put the
day straight back. The option was disabled rather than lying about it.

A removed day is now recorded as its own thing — no leave for this
parent, this child, this date — and the planner honours it on every
later sync. It is kept apart from the working-day overrides, which
answer a different question about the calendar rather than about the
plan.

The day belongs to the parent whose band was clicked, so removing one
parent's day leaves their partner's alone; where both parents were to be
off on one funding arrangement, the partner is simply funded on their
own instead. A removed day shortens what the period is asking for rather
than counting as a day the plan failed to find, so the advice about
closing a shortfall does not start arguing for a day nobody wants.

Nothing is removed without a way back: the toast undoes it, and the day
itself is marked in the calendar and offers to restore.

jacobh2 6d92b87bf3 Give every year of a repeating period its own row
A repeating period was a single row that the planner expanded into one
window per year at read time, so no year had anywhere to differ from the
others. Editing one year rewrote them all, and removing a year in the
middle had to split the wish in two. Neither survives contact with the
thing this app is for: Easter moves, and the cheapest week is not the
same week every year.

Each year is now its own row, linked by a series id. Editing one year
touches one row; editing the series re-projects the rest from it.
Removing a year is one delete. The weekday snap is worked out once, when
the rows are made, and stored, so a row now says what it means rather
than being re-derived on every read. Recurrence stops being a stored
field and becomes what it always was in practice — an instruction at
create and update time; whether a period repeats is whether it belongs
to a series.

Migration 004 rebuilds the table and expands the existing rows, keeping
each original row as its first year so the days already planned against
it still point somewhere. A Feb 29 anchor recurring into a common year
used to raise out of the allocator; it clamps now.

jacobh2 35e479a005 Let the planner fund a hand-drawn period, and remove one at a time
Three changes to calendar editing, too interleaved in the same files to
land separately.

Giving the same days to the second parent rewrote the first parent's
days instead of adding their own. The save looked the existing day up
against whoever was logged in rather than the parent being saved for, so
parent A's leave turned into parent B's vacation. The parent choice now
lives with the lookup, and two parents on the same dates produce two
rows and two bands.

Drawing a period by hand meant naming a day type up front. It now asks
who is off and lets the planner fund it, as a one-off period the sync
places, with double days offered when both parents are off and priced
honestly in the hint. Pinning an exact day type is still there, moved
behind Advanced, and editing a pinned day goes straight back to it.

Removing a period offered only the two extremes. There are now three
choices: this day, this year's period, or every year. Taking one year
out of a repeating period narrows it, or splits it in two when the year
is in the middle; where a scope cannot be expressed it is disabled with
a reason rather than doing something surprising.

jacobh2 11f2a17b43 Say what would close a shortfall, and where the free days are
A year that cannot afford the whole week was already funded as far as it
goes rather than dropped; there is now a test that says so, across four
years of a repeating wish where only three and a half are affordable.

The advice to move a window onto the red days was looking three days
either side, which can never find Easter. It now searches four weeks
either way — enough for Easter's drift plus the weekday snap — and ranks
placements with the same cost model flexible periods are already placed
with, naming the dates and the days gained.

None of this reached the screen before. The overview now lists each short
window with its gap and the ranked remedies underneath, one line each.

jacobh2 663d5fcd92 Flip a single holiday to a working day by clicking it
The status on the right of each public holiday is now a button. Clicking
it writes an override for that one date, and clicking it back removes the
override rather than storing a row that agrees with the almanac. Because
an override is keyed on an absolute date, the same holiday in other years
is left alone — which is what was asked for and needed no schema change.

The separate badge saying an override exists stays, so the fact that a
day has been changed is not carried by the button alone.

jacobh2 1837154225 Jump to today, and open a period on the dates it actually has
The month can now be reached in one click instead of paging back through
the year. The button sits left of the month dropdown and sizes to its
label, so Idag and Today both fit.

Opening a period showed the wish's first year rather than the occurrence
that was clicked: a 2028 week of a yearly wish opened on 2026, and a
flexible period opened on its bounding range instead of where the planner
put it. The popover now prefills from the clicked band's own dates.
Saving a yearly wish keeps its anchor year, since the edited dates
describe the recurring pattern and not one occurrence — moving a single
year is a separate choice that does not exist yet.

jacobh2 f0f537c95f Hold every calendar cell to the same size
A calendar whose boxes resize is not a calendar. Each week row is its own
grid, and a bare 1fr track takes its minimum from its content, so the one
week containing "Alla helgons dag" had its seven cells squeezed while
every other week's stayed wide. The tracks are now minmax(0, 1fr) and the
cell, the day and the holiday name each refuse to contribute an intrinsic
width; the name clips to an ellipsis and keeps its full text in the title.

Row height follows the same rule: the band lanes are reserved from the
month's tallest week rather than each row's own, so a week with no leave
in it stands as tall as the week beside it.

jacobh2 ae6db7e16f Redesign the setup flow and consolidate the CSS into one primitives layer
Onboarding asks explicitly for one or two parents and shows one card per
parent for balances; the balance form is per parent with inline
validation; the partner can be filled from the FK deduction or added
from it. Settings and Dashboard reuse the same form.

CSS: bare buttons carry no colour any more; buttons, cards, choice
cards, fields, alerts, badges, eyebrow and modal chrome are defined once
in primitives.css. Media queries live only in responsive.css. A style
guard test blocks hex, !important and stray media queries. Bilingual
fixes: calendar selects size by content, header no longer wraps. Vitest
is capped at four workers.

jacobh2 02db5430eb Harden the API and the data layer after a security and performance audit
Security
- Every route now requires a login and refuses ids outside the caller's
  workspace with 404: plan, leave-wishes, day-overrides and vacation-days
were fully anonymous; every other router trusted client-supplied
workspace/child/parent ids. Scraper sessions are bound to their owner.
- Invitations can no longer be created for a foreign workspace, and a
redeemer who is already a member (or a full workspace) is refused.
- Production refuses the default JWT secret; API docs are hidden in
production; a failed migration aborts startup instead of serving.
- Login and register no longer reveal whether an email exists; inactive
accounts are rejected; /auth/refresh is rate limited.
- The FK scraper writes debug artefacts only when explicitly enabled,
logs no scraped values or page text, clears the BankID QR as soon as it
is scanned and purges finished sessions after five minutes.
- Real FK page captures are removed from the tree (history rewrite
follows); the parser tests use a synthetic fixture.

Performance and correctness
- Plan apply/sync run inside one locked transaction with batched writes
instead of one commit per row, so a failure mid-batch leaves nothing
half-applied and concurrent syncs no longer corrupt each other.
- SQLite runs in WAL mode with a busy timeout; 14 indexes cover the
  filters that were full scans; argon2 hashing runs off the event loop;
  responses are gzipped.
- Frontend: a 401 now refreshes the token once and retries, so sessions
no longer die silently after 15 minutes; every data hook discards
stale responses; logout clears state even when the server call fails.

label, and page sections were a stack of identical bordered cards that gave
no sense of what mattered most. Sections now separate by space and a hairline,
the overview leads with its headline figure at a size that says so, and the
palette, type scale and spacing live in one place as variables rather than
scattered literals.

Two things were not styled at all. The sign-in screen was an unstyled form in
the top-left corner, and the tip cards had no rules whatsoever despite their
markup already carrying a severity, so every tip rendered identically with a
plain green square for its dismiss control.

The calendar was also unusable on a narrow screen: the preset rail never
collapsed and covered the last three columns of the grid.

jacobh2 f2b3920cbc Share one date formatter, and stop describing files that are gone
Two components each carried the same four lines turning a date into an ISO
string from local parts. They now share one helper, deliberately separate
from the one that formats in UTC: substituting one for the other shifts the
day by one anywhere east of Greenwich, Sweden included, so a test pins the
difference rather than a comment asking nicely.

Creating a period ran its own copy of the sync-and-report sequence purely so
it could name a wish the lookup could not yet see; it now passes that wish to
the ordinary path instead.

Two comments still explained their relationship to components deleted some
time ago, which would send the next reader looking for files that are not
there, and some styling outlived the markup it described.

jacobh2 c5587c5b46 Ask before deleting without leaving the app
Deleting a period or a day went through the browser's own confirmation box.
It halts the page while it is open, which meant the delete path could not be
driven by anything automated, and it looks nothing like the rest of the app.
Both now ask inline: the first click offers the choice, and only the second
one deletes. That matters more than it did, since deleting a period now takes
its days with it.

jacobh2 c15cd44cb4 Warn when saving unevenly costs the family days
Only ninety-six days survive a child's fourth birthday, and with two parents
that is forty-eight each rather than a shared pool. A parent sitting on sixty
days while the other has ten therefore forfeits twelve that the family could
have kept, and nothing said so.

The advice leads with taking the days as leave before the birthday, which
turns them into actual time at home, and offers transferring only as the
fallback that merely preserves them. The transferable figure is bounded by
what Försäkringskassan actually reports as transferable, since the reserved
days cannot move, and the copy says plainly that a transfer happens there and
not in this app. Without the partner's figures the tip hedges rather than
inventing a number.
2026-09-17 22:31:37 +02:00
jacobh2 a4fce16dd1 Give a new account a first run, and drop to three tabs
Registering used to land you on a bare form asking for a child, with no hint
what came next. A short wizard now walks through the child, whether you are
planning alone or together, and where the day balances come from: fetched from
Försäkringskassan, entered by hand, or skipped — and if skipped, the figures
carry a badge saying they are estimates until real ones arrive.

Fetching is the first option rather than a hidden one, so the scraper is on by
default and the script that used to force it on no longer needs to.

Planning and Tips lose their tabs. Authoring moved to the calendar and the
figures moved to the overview, so both pages were only a second way to reach
what is already on screen; their routes now redirect rather than dead-end. The
dead translations went with them.

Dates also follow the chosen language now instead of always formatting as
Swedish.

jacobh2 064bcc2b3a Cover the mappers and labels nothing was watching
The day-override mapper was the only one in the client with no test feeding
it the shape the server actually sends, which is how a feature once shipped
rendering blank cards to everyone while the suite stayed green. The apply
response's collision fields were mapped but only ever exercised with an empty
list, and the leave band's accessible label, composed from translated text and
two dates, was asserted nowhere.

All three were correct; none was guarded. The day-override hook's fixtures now
go through the typed factory rather than hand-written objects.
2026-09-17 22:05:21 +02:00
jacobh2 8e1cf3524c Lead the overview with the days about to be lost
The page opened with generic tiles and a bar reading forty-eight of ninety-six
weeks, which was neither weeks nor connected to the age-four ceiling it appeared
to describe. It is replaced by one headline and a bar per parent, in days,
against each parent's own savable limit as the server reports it.

The headline has two framings on the same arithmetic. Before anything is
planned it says what there is to plan and what will be lost without a plan,
because on the first day almost the whole entitlement is technically at risk
and saying so bluntly reads as an accusation. Once a plan exists it warns about
the days genuinely at stake.

A timeline of the years to the fourth birthday answers what the next four years
look like, which a month-at-a-time calendar cannot. Shortfalls, surplus advice
and balances sit below the fold, read-only: applying is automatic now, so a
second apply button would be a way to get two different answers.

Rejection messages move to one shared place that resolves a parent's name, so
an identifier can no longer surface in their place.
2026-09-17 21:32:15 +02:00
jacobh2 c2e64b504d Author leave on the calendar itself
Planning used to mean filling in a wish list on one tab, pressing a button to
see a suggestion, then pressing another to accept it — with nothing on screen
telling you whether a plan was active. Dragging a range on the calendar now
creates the period directly, clicking a band opens it for editing, and each
change is recomputed and saved in one step. A period repeats never or yearly,
matching what the planner can actually express.

Clicking a day edits that day: its funding type, which pins it so the planner
leaves it alone, and whether the day counts as worked or off. That switch used
to be a mode covering the whole grid, which is what made the calendar confusing.

The season presets move to a rail beside the grid. Picking one lets the planner
choose the placement, then jumps there and flashes it, rather than asking the
user to guess dates the engine already knows.

A sync that funds nothing now says so, naming the period and how many days it
fell short, instead of leaving the screen unchanged and looking broken.

jacobh2 fd39bd9748 Map the tips payload onto the shape the client declares
Tips rendered as blank cards with unresolved placeholder text in their
accessibility labels. getTips was the one entity fetch in the client with no
translation from the wire's snake_case, so every tip arrived without the key
that selects its title and body, and the lookup silently missed.

The mapper now matches its siblings in that file. A test drives a card through
all eleven message keys the tips engine emits, so a twelfth added later fails
loudly instead of rendering an empty card, and two older tests that stubbed the
tips response as an empty object rather than an empty list have been corrected.

jacobh2 c368042c7e Require a planned day to carry its wish and pinned state
Both fields were made optional to avoid editing test files that were out of
scope at the time, but the API populates them on every planned day, so the
optionality described nothing real and quietly loosened the contract between
the wire format and the client — which is where this codebase has historically
gone wrong.

The inline objects that forced the compromise now go through the typed test
factory instead, so the next field added to a planned day is a one-line change
rather than another round of this.

jacobh2 6a7c0ef255 Draw a leave period as one band, and make red days look red
A six-week summer used to render as a row of disconnected bars, because bars
were derived per week row and grouped by parent and day type. They carried no
identity and ignored pointer events, so there was nothing to click. Bands now
group by the wish that produced them, bridge the weekends and red days inside
a period, and round only the ends that are genuinely the first and last day.
Each day still shows what pays for it, and a hand-edited day is marked as one
the planner will leave alone.

Sundays and public holidays now render red and Saturdays a neutral grey,
following the printed almanacka people compare against, and a holiday's name
is visible in the cell rather than hidden in a tooltip. This also explains the
report that months looked unshaded: weekends had no styling at all, since the
day component handled only red days and klämdagar.

The year selector follows the range the calendar API actually serves instead
of a hardcoded span.

jacobh2 cc3ced905e Link planned days to their wish, fix the age-4 cap, drop the planning goal
Three changes that together unblock treating a calendar period as one
editable object.

Migration 008 adds `planned_leave_day.wish_id` (nullable, ON DELETE SET NULL)
so a persisted day knows which `leave_wish` produced it, `is_pinned` to mark a
day the user hand-edited, and `leave_wish.target_days` so a period drawn on a
calendar need not be a whole number of weeks. Apply-time identity still keys on
day_type/is_dubbeldag only, so a wish_id-only difference is a metadata update
rather than a collision.

The age-4 savable ceiling was applying the per-child figure of 96 to each
parent's pool, modelling a two-parent family as able to save 192 days past the
child's fourth birthday. `resolve_age4_savable_cap` is now the single place
that decides 48 (couple with two parents) versus 96 (everyone else), and both
AnalyticsService and the allocator read it.

Migration 009 drops `workspace.planning_goal` and `leave_wish.goal_override`.
The allocator's tier-3 policy collapses to one rule; `salary_type` still
branches, since that reflects what a vacation day actually costs a parent
rather than a user preference.

jacobh2 46e89a4359 Build plan-shape test data with the typed factories
PlanResults, Plan and usePlanProposal still hand-rolled proposal objects
inline -- roughly 29 nested literals in PlanResults alone. Hand-writing a
deep shape is the pressure that produced 219 `as any` casts across this
suite, so the factories existing but going unused left the trap armed.

Values an assertion depends on stay inline as overrides; the factories
supply only the scaffolding a reader does not need to see. A type gaining
a field now breaks one factory instead of silently passing thirty tests.

jacobh2 fe120ee222 Remove every as any from the test suite and enforce it
ESLint turned `no-explicit-any` off for test files, and 219 casts had
accumulated across 12 of them. Two shapes, very different risks: most
were `(useWorkspace as any).mockReturnValue(...)`, mere laziness that
`vi.mocked()` does properly; the rest cast partial fixtures onto API
types, which erases the contract exactly where a test should enforce it.

That second kind matters here specifically. This project's recurring bug
is a field silently dropped between backend and frontend -- the
hand-written mapping in models/plan.py has done it twice, and apiFetch
mishandling structured errors was the same shape. A test that casts an
incomplete fixture to `any` keeps passing through precisely that change.

A typed fixture layer already existed at tests/fixtures/mockData.ts and
was imported by exactly zero tests: the right tool was there and
invisible, so everyone reached for a cast. It is now a set of
`make*(overrides: Partial<T>) => T` factories returning complete, valid
objects, split by domain with a barrel. When a type gains a field, one
factory fails to compile instead of thirty tests silently passing.

With the count at zero the ESLint exemption is deleted, so this cannot
regrow. Removing it immediately caught two `}: any` prop stubs that a
grep for "as any" had missed; those mocks now use the real components'
exported prop types.

`as unknown as T` survives in five places, each a test deliberately
feeding invalid input (an undefined breakdown, missing tierData, a bogus
leave type). CLAUDE.md now documents that as the only accepted escape,
and points at the factories.

interface PollResponse in useScraperFetch.ts is exported so its shape can
be derived rather than duplicated -- pollScraperSession declares
Promise<unknown>, so there was no other honest way to type it.

jacobh2 20f45d6c7b Translate wish names in plan proposal output
Preset wish names follow the UI language in the wish editor, but the plan
proposal still rendered outcome.wishName straight from the stored
entity.name, so a proposal could show "Höstlov" with the UI in English.

The proposal now carries wish_name_message_key alongside each wish name,
and the frontend resolves it with the same helper the editor uses --
falling back to the stored literal when the key is absent or unknown.
Nothing is translated on the backend; text crosses the wire as a key.

Four surfaces carried a name and all four are covered: WindowOutcome
itself, the explanation summary's interpolated data, and two remedies --
including REMEDY_LOWER_PRIORITY_WISH, which names a *different* sibling
wish whose key can differ from the outcome's own.

The proposal response mapping is hand-written and has dropped new fields
twice before, so this is covered by an API-level test asserting the field
reaches the response body, not only a service test.

jacobh2 e22007dc50 Detect wish save failures directly instead of inferring them
Plan.tsx's handlers swallowed their rejections and onUpdate was typed to
return void, so WishEditor could not observe a failed save. It inferred
the outcome instead -- comparing the draft it sent against the next
wishes prop, and reading "isSaving went false without a match" as
failure. That coupled save status to refetch timing and could not tell a
network error from a slow refresh.

The handlers now return their promise, onUpdate accepts
`void | Promise<void>` so void-returning callers still typecheck, and
WishEditor awaits and catches the real outcome. The inference machinery
(sentDraftRef, prevIsSavingRef and the comparison effect) is removed
rather than left alongside, since two sources of truth can disagree.

The save/refetch/save loop guard is untouched: it lives in the draft
reseed effect, which only fills a row that has no draft yet, and saves
only ever originate from an explicit onChange. Added a comment saying so.

A failed row now keeps its edit and offers an explicit retry, rather than
requiring another edit to retrigger the debounce. Per-row failures report
inline only -- reporting them in the page banner too would double-report
the same error.

Also removes wishEditor.saveButton/savingButton, dead since the per-row
Save button was replaced by auto-save.

jacobh2 8c2e5dee1b Distinguish the Dashboard and Plan age-4 figures
Both screens showed an "expiring at age 4" number under near-identical
labels, and they disagreed -- 143 on the Dashboard versus 100 on the Plan
tab for the same parent. Both were correct: the Dashboard reflects the
saved plan, the Plan tab a proposal that has not been applied and which
simulates future recurring wishes.

The numbers are left untouched; forcing them to agree would make one of
them wrong. Instead each label now states its own basis ("om nuvarande
plan följs" / "om detta förslag tillämpas"), and the Plan tab's intro
says outright that the saved plan may differ, and why.

Tests assert the distinguishing copy on both screens so the two cannot
silently drift back to indistinguishable labels.

jacobh2 dc4c0a5edd Show preset wish names in the current UI language
Preset wishes were created with `name: t(preset.labelKey)`, so the
translated string was persisted as the wish's name. A wish created while
the UI was Swedish stayed "Jul" in English forever -- the Swedish text
was the data, so no display-layer change could fix it.

Wish names are user-editable free text, so `name` cannot simply be
translated at render time. Migration 007 adds a nullable
`leave_wish.name_message_key` recording where a name came from: preset
wishes store the i18n key alongside the translated literal, and the UI
renders the key when present.

The key is cleared server-side the moment `name` actually changes,
compared against the stored value rather than trusting the caller, so no
client can forget to clear it and silently revert a user's own name to a
preset label.

An unknown key (a stale row, a renamed key) falls back to the stored
literal via an isTranslationKey guard, so a bad key can never crash the
page or leak a raw key to the user. Rows predating this column keep
displaying their stored name.

_FULL_SCHEMA in db/connection.py is updated in step with the migration.

jacobh2 c5481a05f0 Raise frontend branch coverage from 86.84% to 93.78%
Branches were the weakest metric and had the least headroom above the
85% floor. These are tests for decision paths that were genuinely
unexercised, not padding.

The largest gaps were systemic rather than per-file: the
`err instanceof Error ? ... : fallback` branch was untested across eight
data hooks, useVacationDays had no dedicated test file at all, and
Calendar.tsx's missing-workspace/child/personalData fallbacks were never
hit.

Left deliberately uncovered, with reasons: `?? fallback` guards whose
fallback cannot occur given how the value is constructed upstream, and
guards behind buttons that are disabled whenever the guard would matter.
Reaching those means calling handlers directly, which tests the test
rather than the app.

jacobh2 cf378288f0 Break the Dashboard's age-4 stat down per parent
The Dashboard summed both parents' expiring days into one figure while
the Plan tab already showed them separately. Each parent's own count is
now shown alongside the combined total, which stays and is relabelled as
a sum.

The per-parent numbers were already on the wire as
parentProjections[].expiringAtB4 -- no backend change, and no arithmetic
here. Both figures are rendered exactly as the backend computed them,
since re-deriving them is what previously doubled a parent's entitlement
(87b3eb5).

A single-parent workspace shows only the combined figure, where a
breakdown would just repeat it.

nameResolver moves out of PlanResults.tsx into src/utils/parentNames.ts
so both screens resolve uuid -> name the same way. PlanResults.test.tsx
passes untouched, which is the evidence the extraction preserved
behaviour.

jacobh2 f685b739f8 Add a custom bounding range for flexible wishes, and auto-save edits
Flexible wishes could only be bounded by one of four season presets, a
deliberate v1 scope cut. They can now take any month/day range, including
one that wraps the year end the way the jul preset does. The range stays
a search bound -- the engine still chooses the placement inside it at
propose time.

February is capped at 28 days rather than 29: the backend builds a
concrete date(year, month, day) per anchor year, so a Feb 29 bound would
raise in a non-leap year.

Per-row Save buttons are replaced by a debounced auto-save (800ms), which
is what prompted this: clicking save on each individual field was the
reported annoyance. A draft that has not actually changed never saves, so
a refetch cannot trigger a further save -- the save/refetch/save loop is
guarded explicitly and has a regression test. An invalid draft (bounding
range shorter than the wish) holds the edit locally and shows why rather
than saving.

jacobh2 28c632ca36 Fix calendar window overshooting the cached year range
Found by probing the running API; both suites were green and missed it.

CalendarService validated only start_year against the cache, never the window
end. GET /api/calendar/days?start_year=2035&years=4 returned 200 with
end_year=2038, pulling 2036-2038 from the live holidays-library fallback in
app/utils/holidays.py. That fallback does not know the de facto free days, so
Julafton, Nyarsafton and Midsommarafton were reported as ordinary working days
(18 red days per cached year vs 13 per uncached year). Julafton being charged
as a working day was fixed once before; it had reappeared past 2035.

- clamp end_year to max_year; the response now always reports what it returned
- add strict=True to get_swedish_holidays/get_red_days plus UncachedYearError,
checked before the memo cache, so a strict caller fails loudly rather than
silently degrading. Non-strict default behaviour is unchanged.
- RedDaysList derived endYear locally as startYear + years - 1, independent of
the response, so a clamped window rendered phantom empty years. It now takes
  endYear from the backend.

Tests: clamping at and before max_year (service + router), Julafton/Nyarsafton/
Midsommarafton red for every cached year, red-day count consistent across the
served range, and strict-mode raise/pass-through.

Backend 404 -> 414 tests, frontend 704 -> 705.

Known, deliberately not fixed here: AllocationInputLoader builds its holiday map
the same non-strict way over the planning horizon, so it has the same exposure
once the horizon passes 2035. Clamping would silently truncate planning and
raising would break real plans, so it needs a product decision first.

jacobh2 76b1e712b9 Complete NextSteps roadmap: planning engine UI, calendar cluster, flexible wishes
Works through every numbered item in NextSteps260913.md section 3, plus the
three known verification issues in section 4.1.

Surface what the backend already computed:
- 3.1 render surplus_advice in PlanResults, mirroring the shortfall remedies
- 3.2 surface VacationBalance.is_assumed so assumed statutory years are visible
- 3.3 age-4 expiry given the proposed plan, via a new Age4Projection reusing
the existing _age4_projections arithmetic (Dashboard stat verified, not rebuilt)

Calendar cluster (one pass over the holiday data):
- new GET /api/calendar/days exposing roda dagar, klamdagar and day overrides,
paginated four years at a time
- 3.4 shade roda dagar/klamdagar, with R/K badges so colour is not the only signal
- 3.6 click-to-override behind an explicit mode toggle, leaving drag multi-select intact
- 3.7 click month/year to advance
- 3.8 per-year red-days list in Settings, statutory days plus overrides

i18n:
- 3.5 five backend-generated Swedish surfaces converted to message_key + data,
following the tips_service pattern; old string fields replaced, not kept

Flexible wishes (3.9):
- PLANNING_ENGINE_SPEC section 10: window_mode, candidate search, cost function,
deterministic tie-break, two-pass ordering, test matrix rows 15-24
- backend: entity, migration 006, _FULL_SCHEMA sync, repository, allocator
- frontend: season-preset toggle in WishEditor, unplaced outcome rendering

Fixes (4.1):
- pin typecheck to the local tsc rather than npx resolving a newer TypeScript
- ignore generated coverage/ and dist/ in the ESLint flat config
- fix the flaky usePlanApply test properly, with waitFor rather than a retry

Tests: backend 361 -> 404, frontend 540 -> 704. Coverage 89.47% -> 96.52% lines.

Not yet verified in a browser.
