Merge branch 'worktree-redundant-preschool-field'

Identical tree to worktree-fix-deprecations-backend-plan (the same deprecation
rename done twice under a stale branch name). Merged as a no-op; the only
conflicts were the same already-deleted files as the first merge, resolved
by keeping main's side.
